Herat Environment Protection Department has emphasized on outlawing birds dealing in Herat province.
Dealing wild birds was prohibited by this department in 2011 and dealing the birds reduced to 60% in this year.
Herat Environment Protection Department says, “This policy has been introduced to protect wild birds’ generation and it was extended in 2012 again, but this policy will not success without cooperation of the police and the people.
Abdul Qayom Afghan, Head of Herat Environment Protection Department, said on Tuesday, dealing wild birds has decreased by 60% in 2011 and they try to reduce selling wild birds to 100% in 2012.
According to Mr. Afghan, they will seriously combat sellers of wild birds and they will be introduced to judicial departments.
Mr. Afghan says, the main reason of prevention wild birds’ selling is their smuggling into other countries.
He added, we negotiated with security departments to pay more attention in this regard.
According to Mr. Afghan, 1000 wild birds were discovered and freed while they were being sold in 2011. A number of these birds were transferred and kept in the Melat-Garden Zoo.
